Big news for our Professional Services learners. We are proud to celebrate the refurbishment of our brand-new hairdressing salon facilities! Since September 2025, we have been working towards building a professional-feeling salon to give our Professional Services learners the kind of industry-standard environment they deserve to launch their careers in.

A Salon Built for the Future of the Industry

Walking into the new space, it's immediately clear this isn't just a refurbishment — it's a statement of intent. The new salon has been designed to mirror a real, working commercial salon, so that from day one, learners are training in conditions that match what they'll step into on day one of their careers.

The space features:

  • Fully equipped styling stations, fitted with professional-grade chairs, mirrors, and lighting

  • A basin for shampooing, conditioning, and treatments

  • A dedicated colour/treatment area for colour correction, balayage, and chemical services

  • Modern styling tools, sterilising units, trolleys throughout, so learners are trained on the same kit they'll use in the workplace

Why our Hairdressing Facilities Matter

For our Professional Services learners who want to specialise in Hairdressing or Beauty, facilities like this aren't just nice-to-have. These are facilities they may not have access to usually that can help build real confidence and skill. Training in a space that looks, feels, and runs like a genuine salon means learners get used to working with clients, managing their time, and delivering services to a professional standard long before they finish their course. It also means our tutors can simulate the full client journey.

“We can take them from consultation through to finish. This helps give learners hands-on experience that goes far beyond textbook learning.” – Kurt Salter, Principal and Managing Director of Salt College

Supporting Real Career Pathways

Salt College's Professional Services learners want to go on to work in salons, spas, and self-employment across Kent, and we want to invest in our commitment to making sure they leave fully prepared. We want to support them with not just qualifications, but the confidence to be genuinely job-ready.

Whether learners are working towards their Level 2 or 3, building their portfolio, or preparing for competitions and assessments, the new salon gives them the space to do their very best work.

See It For Yourself

The new facilities are now open and already buzzing with activity as learners get to grips with their new working environment. If you'd like to see the salon in person, we have an upcoming open day where our tutors are available to demonstrate and introduce prospective learners to what we offer.
