Our learners and staff celebrating their achievements and success from 2025/2026

On 8th July 2026, our staff and learners came together for our very first "Celebration Day!" Whilst this did mark the end of another our academic year for our learners, it also marked the end of our very first academic year as Salt College.

We all came together after lunch for a grand Awards Ceremony where we celebrated the success and achievements, as well as the personal challenges learners have overcome. Before that, we set up activities for the learners to take part in throughout the morning. Our tutors were excited to host a variety of activities like bingo, karaoke, board games, and even a race-against-the-clock escape room.

Bongo Bingo

The day kicked off with rounds on rounds of Bongo Bingo and with lucky dip prizes at stake. Numbers were called, prizes were won, and cheers erupted every time someone got to shout out "Bingo!" It was the perfect light-hearted way to bring everyone together for some low-stakes fun.

Karaoke

The stage lights came on for our karaoke session and hidden talents came out in full force! Students and staff grabbed the mic to belt out their favourite songs, with plenty of cheering (and a few surprise showstoppers) along the way. The karaoke session was so popular they kept coming back after the awards! A great opportunity to show how much confidence has been gained throughout the year.

Teamwork and Board Games

Groups gathered around tables for classic and modern games designed to build collaboration, communication, and a healthy bit of friendly competition. It was a great reminder that some of the best learning and bonding happens away from the classroom, through a bit of strategic thinking and collaboration. We even had some board games lent to us from Dice & Destiny, one of Kent's most well-known board game shops.

Escape Room

We offered the ultimate test of problem-solving under pressure: the Escape Room. Teams were given a set time to work through clues, puzzles, and hidden challenges to "escape" before the clock ran out. The excitement (and occasional confusion!) was palpable as teams worked together, communicated fast, and thought on their feet. It was a brilliant showcase of the collaborative spirit that's been at the heart of our learners.

Photo Booth

In between activities, what better way to relax than with a photobooth! Thanks to YouBeautyPhotobooths we were able to capture the memories for everyone throughout the day. There were silly hats and funny faces, lots of keepsakes from the day to look back on in the future.

Awards Ceremony for Success and Achievement

To cap the day off, everyone gathered for our Celebration Day Awards Ceremony. This was a chance to recognise the achievements, effort, and standout moments of all our learners. Academic accomplishments like excellence in English, Maths, and their Curriculum Pathways. Person growth like proving resilience and being an outstanding member of the community. Those are just some of the accolades we were proud to award this year. We hope that our learners feel motivated, headstrong, ready for whatever is in their next steps.

Looking Ahead

This Celebration Day was more than just a fun send-off to the end of the academic year, it was a celebration of everything Salt College has achieved in its very first year. The progress that's been made in our learner's education and the teamwork it took to get them there.
